Yoke sweater design

TWO SWEATER FOR 2020

During the last week, I had the pleasure to launch TWO new sweater designs: the dolman “Fair and Square” and the yoke pullover “Notre Dame”

✔ FAIR AND SQUARE DESIGN

The Fair and Square is a “dolman” style pullover with “bat” sleeves! Since I like my clothes to be comfortable, I try to avoid fitted garments in which I do not feel very comfy. For this reason I like to wear a dolman style sweater because they have a lot of positive ease while being very stylish!

Originally, this model was written for Laine Magazine, Sept 2020 issue #12… I was thrilled to have my design published in this magazine but unfortunately, for some reasons Laine Magazine have decided to take a break and therefore cancelled the publication of issues 10, 11 & 12 🤷

To get designers in the mood for issue # 12, Laine Magazine had shared few pictures including the following one (left), which was the original inspiration for my Fair & Square dolman design (right)

I have love designs involving geometric shapes. I like the repetitive aspect of geometry that offers infinite creative possibilities! So I wanted to integrate a mitered square in a dolman pullover. The front and the back are made from two mitered squares. Then, shoulders are sewn together and both sleeves are created by picking up stitches on each side of the square. The ¾ sleeves are shaped with short rows (back and forth rows may be added for extra width according to selected size) and ends with a ribbed cuff worked in the round. Hem and neckline ribbing is worked in the round as well by picking up stitches at the very end.

✔ NOTRE DAME DESIGN

To present my new Notre Dame sweater, I have prepared a video for you, thanks to Patrick who achieved a tour de force 🐱‍🏍💪 by being able to convince me that I could do it !! (Thank you love xx you are the best !!) Oh and you may turn on the ENGLISH SUBTITLES 💬!!

So to sum up the little story of this video, this sweater is knitted in Dk Pure from the Louise Robert Design collection in the following colors: Parchemin, Traviata and Belle Brume…

This yoke pullover presents a stranded colorwork pattern reminding me of the rib vaults of Gothic cathedrals in which we find majestic stained glass windows! I decided to name this pattern Notre Dame to pay tribute to the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral which was the victim of a fire in April 2019.
